May has been an incredible month at Pelican Flight Training, as several of our dedicated student pilots achieved one of the most significant milestones in their aviation journey — their first solo flights. After weeks of preparation, rigorous ground school, and countless hours of dual instruction, each student took to the skies alone for the very first time, demonstrating skill, sound judgment, and calm confidence.

First solo day is never just about flying. It’s about earning trust, overcoming nerves, and stepping into the world of true aviators. Our instructors and classmates were there to cheer on every smooth takeoff and landing, and to mark the occasion with the time-honored “solo shirt cutting” tradition.

Several Pelican students completed their first solo flights this May — congratulations to all!

Congratulations to Our New Solo Pilots

To every student who soloed this May: well done. Your hard work and dedication have paid off. This accomplishment is the foundation for the cross-country phase, checkride prep, and a successful path toward certification.

Thinking about your own first solo? Our training programs are designed to build competence and confidence, from your first lesson to the day you fly alone. Schedule a visit or discovery flight to get started.
