Convenience

Convenience can mean a lot of different things. For us, convenience means that a school be both easily accessible and offer good flight weather.

Our location between FLL, OPF and MIA means that there are more than 1,400 flights a day into the area from around the world. Further, our location at North Perry Airport in Pembroke Pines, Florida provides us with direct access to all of Central and South Florida.

North Perry, being a controlled airport, meaning – with an active tower, offers a variety of services, such as traffic patterns that reduce the work load, and create less conflict.

Furthermore, with a special training zone being 5 minutes away, we enjoy a quiet flight environment, but still at the vicinity of busy airspace. Our location- in that manner, will provide the optimal training scene for you! The ability to practice instruments approach at 3 international airports, maneuvering whom can be done only at practice areas, all with the organized and safe environment of a controlled airport.

Meaning, our location, combined with the fact that the winds are predominantly west-east or east-west, gives us consistently ample air space to operate in while also providing our students with invaluable experience operating in a major metropolitan area with multiple busy airports . In short, being here will make you a better pilot – in the best professional and climate environment in the world!

Our location also provides us with year-round optimum weather conditions for flying. This, combined with the fact that we are open seven days a week, means we can ensure you are able to obtain the flight hours you need in as short a time as possible.

Flight School Recognition, Approvals & Accreditations

While there are many certified flight schools, we take it a step further. We are accredited by the FAA Accrediting Commission of Career Schools and Colleges (ACCSC) for our Professional Pilot Program for both Airplanes and Helicopters. The ACCSC is accredited by the U.S. Department of Education as a nationally recognized accrediting agency.

This recognition means that our students are able to apply some (or all) of their education with us towards obtaining an advanced aviation degree in addition to achieving their pilot ratings.

We are certified by the FAA as a Part 141 school, but we also have certified Part 61 programs in our training for some individual requests.

State-of-the-Art Facilities

As a Fixed-Base Operator out of North Perry Airport, we have been able to develop a cutting-edge facility with Advanced Aircraft Training Devices, library, spacious briefing areas and classrooms, and a 14,000 square foot maintenance facility.

Our goal is to provide all of the tools necessary for our students to get the experience they need and ensure that our instructors can focus on teaching.

Location

Located in Pembroke Pines, we are just 20 minutes away from the vibrant attractions of Miami, including South Beach, all at an affordable cost! Our Pembroke Pines location, conveniently situated near Hollywood and Fort Lauderdale, provides our students with a safe and welcoming environment.

We offer housing options including school-rented apartments and houses shared with other students, starting at $750 per month for a shared room. This ensures easy access to South Florida’s world-class beaches during your downtime, with a refundable deposit of $500 required.

The gated communities come with amenities such as a gym, pool, and BBQ area. If you would like more information about these options, please feel free to reach out to us!

Frequently Asked Questions

At Pelican Flight Training, we often receive questions about the differences between Part 141 and Part 61 flight training programs, especially in relation to airline preferences. Generally, airlines do not have a strict preference for one over the other. Both training paths are valid, and pilots from both types of programs can be hired by airlines.

However, many airlines may favor candidates who have completed a Part 141 program due to its structured curriculum and regulatory oversight, which can provide a more standardized training experience.

That said, what matters most to airlines is the overall quality of training, flight experience, and the pilot's ability to demonstrate their skills and knowledge during the hiring process.

If you have more specific questions or need further clarification on this topic, please feel free to submit an inquiry through our website, and we would be happy to assist you!

At Pelican Flight Training in Pembroke Pines, Florida, the difference between Part 61 and Part 141 pilot certification primarily lies in the structure and requirements of the training programs.

Part 61: Offers more flexibility, allowing students to learn at their own pace. Instructors can customize the training path, though students must still meet FAA minimums.

Part 141: FAA-approved curriculum with structured lessons and minimum classroom hours. Often allows students to qualify for certain licenses with fewer total flight hours.

Pelican Flight Training is a Part 141 school. Requirements and timelines vary depending on the course structure.
