In general, training duration can range from a few months to over a year, depending on your starting point and training frequency.

For a more accurate timeline tailored to your goals, we recommend submitting a request through our website so we can provide detailed guidance based on your individual profile.

At Pelican Flight Training, we can say that the demand for pilots has been consistently strong in recent years. The aviation industry is experiencing a significant need for qualified pilots due to factors such as the growth of air travel, retirements of current pilots, and the expansion of airlines.

However, for the most accurate and up-to-date information on pilot demand, we recommend checking industry reports or reaching out to us directly through our website. We're here to help with any other questions you may have about our training programs or the aviation industry!

Yes, pilots are generally very well paid, especially as they advance in their careers. Commercial airline pilots enjoy competitive salaries, excellent benefits, and long-term earning potential.

While entry-level pilots, such as Certified Flight Instructors (CFIs), typically earn between $30,000 and $70,000 per year, first officers at regional airlines can make between $60,000 and $90,000 annually. With experience, senior captains at major airlines often earn between $250,000 and $400,000 per year.

Corporate and charter pilots also earn respectable salaries ranging from $80,000 to $150,000. As global demand for pilots increases, salaries continue to rise, and many airlines offer attractive bonuses and fast-track career options.

In fact, airline pilots, copilots, and flight engineers are consistently ranked among the highest-paid professions in the United States according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics.

In addition to strong pay, pilots also benefit from travel perks, retirement plans, flexible schedules, and professional prestige, making aviation not only a financially sound career path but also an incredibly rewarding one.

At Pelican Flight Training, we focus on providing quality flight training rather than salary information for pilots, as salaries can vary widely depending on numerous factors such as experience, type of aircraft, location, and specific job roles.

For detailed salary information, we recommend checking industry reports or salary surveys. If you have any other questions about our training programs or services, feel free to ask or submit an inquiry through our website!

No, you do NOT need a 4-year degree to become a commercial pilot — and most airlines today do not require one at all.

While some major airlines used to prefer candidates with a college degree, the industry has shifted. What airlines really care about now is flight time, safety, and skill. If you meet the hour requirements (like 1,500 hours for the ATP in the U.S.), have strong training, and demonstrate professionalism, you’re already on the right path.

In fact, many pilots today are getting hired without any college degree — especially with the ongoing demand for pilots worldwide.
