Flight School in Florida for Turkish Students
Every year, Turkish students come to Pembroke Pines, Florida, to earn FAA certificates at a school that has trained pilots since 1985. The practical advantages include generally favorable flying weather, a structured professional program with an estimated timeline of approximately 15 months, and stage-based tuition payments after visa approval. FAA certificates may also support an application to convert or validate credentials in Turkey, subject to current SHGM requirements.
Turkey has a large and active aviation market, led by carriers such as Turkish Airlines, Pegasus Airlines, and AJet. Because airline cadet programs can be limited and competitive, some students choose self-funded FAA training in Florida as an alternative route. Training does not guarantee employment in Turkey, the United States, or any other market, and each employer applies its own hiring and work-authorization requirements.
Training takes place in Cessna and Piper aircraft under FAA-approved Part 141 curricula at Pelican's Pembroke Pines location. The school is accredited by the Accrediting Commission of Career Schools and Colleges (ACCSC). Program content, aircraft availability, and instructor assignments may vary.

Start FlyingFrom Turkey to the Flight Deck: How Enrollment Works
- Free consultation. Our admissions team reviews your goals, budget, and timeline and explains which available program and visa category may fit your plans.
- Enrollment. Submit the required academic, identity, financial, and admissions documents. Aviation English proficiency is required for FAA certification and safe flight training; admissions can explain the school's current enrollment requirements.
- Form I-20. After admission and verification of all required documents, including proof of sufficient funds, Pelican may issue the appropriate Form I-20. Processing times are estimates, not guarantees.
- SEVIS fee and visa interview. Pay the current I-901 SEVIS fee and schedule an interview at the appropriate U.S. embassy or consulate. Fees and appointment waits can change, so verify them on official U.S. government websites.
- TSA approval. Complete the Transportation Security Administration's Flight Training Security Program requirements, including any applicable fee, identity documentation, and fingerprints.
- Arrival and training. Coordinate your arrival, housing, and start date with the school. Training schedules depend on orientation, approvals, weather, aircraft, instructors, and student progress.
- Tuition. Follow the payment schedule in your enrollment agreement. Published prices are based on stated assumptions and minimums; additional training, tests, supplies, housing, transportation, and other costs may apply.

Student Visas for Turkish Citizens: F-1 and M-1
Pelican is SEVP-certified and may issue Forms I-20 to students admitted to eligible programs. Visa classification depends on the specific program and the student's circumstances:
- F-1: available for eligible academic programs. Some students may qualify to apply for CPT or OPT related to their field of study. Practical-training authorization, employment, duration, flight hours, and earnings are determined case by case and are not guaranteed. Students must receive the required authorization before working.
- M-1: available for eligible vocational programs. Employment options are much more limited; students should plan to fund all training and living expenses without relying on U.S. employment.
Immigration rules and filing procedures can change. Before relying on any timeline or employment pathway, confirm the current requirements with Pelican's Designated School Official and official U.S. government sources. A student visa by itself does not provide permanent work authorization or a path to a U.S. airline job.
Most non-U.S. citizens must also complete the TSA Flight Training Security Program process before covered flight training begins. Requirements, fees, and processing times can change; use the TSA portal for current information and allow extra time in your schedule.
Taking Your FAA Licence Back to Turkey
FAA certificates are issued under U.S. regulations. Using them in Turkey requires compliance with current SHGM validation or conversion rules, which may include document review, knowledge requirements, medical certification, experience requirements, and skill testing. Pelican cannot guarantee conversion, employment, or acceptance by an airline. Confirm the current process directly with SHGM before enrolling.
Living in South Florida as a Student From Turkey
Pelican is based in Pembroke Pines, between Miami and Fort Lauderdale. South Florida generally supports year-round training, but flights can still be affected by thunderstorms, hurricanes, maintenance, air traffic, and other operational limits. Ask admissions for current housing and transportation options and budget separately for living expenses.
Transferring From Another Flight School?
If you are already training in the United States, Pelican can review your logbook, records, and immigration status. Logged FAA-compliant experience does not simply disappear, but the amount of credit applied to a new course depends on FAA rules, the approved curriculum, and Pelican's evaluation. Any SEVIS transfer must be coordinated by the schools' Designated School Officials and completed before training begins.
Frequently Asked Questions
Florida can be a strong location for flight training because its climate often permits consistent scheduling. Actual flight availability still depends on weather, aircraft, instructors, air traffic, maintenance, and student progress.
Published tuition depends on the program selected and the assumptions in the current enrollment agreement. Minimum-hour estimates do not guarantee the final cost; additional flight time, exams, supplies, housing, transportation, and international-student expenses may apply. Contact admissions for a current written quote.
Pelican's professional pathway is commonly planned at approximately 15 months, but completion time varies with prior experience, individual progress, weather, aircraft and instructor availability, and checkride scheduling. Ask admissions for the current program schedule and assumptions.
You can begin lessons at any age; the FAA minimum is 16 for solo flight and 17 for the private pilot certificate. Our students range from late teens to career changers in their forties.
You do not need perfect English, but you must be able to read, speak, write, and understand English well enough to meet FAA requirements and train safely. Ask admissions whether any additional school-specific assessment or documentation is currently required.
Aviation demand changes by region and economic cycle. A pilot career can offer strong opportunities, but training does not guarantee an interview, job, salary, or rate of advancement. Research current hiring conditions in the country where you are authorized to work.
FAA certificates can support an application for validation or conversion in Turkey, but recognition is not automatic. SHGM sets the current requirements, and applicants should confirm them directly before training.
Pilot maaslari havayoluna, ucak tipine, kideme, programa ve yan haklara gore degisir. Tablodaki rakamlar yalnizca genel tahminlerdir; guncel ve resmi maas bilgileri yayinlanmadan once yeniden dogrulanmalidir.
Yes. Eligible Turkish students may apply to Pelican programs that support F-1 or M-1 status. Admission, visa issuance, and training completion are separate decisions, and timelines vary.
Ask admissions about current airport-pickup and housing options. Flight schedules and service availability can change, so confirm travel arrangements before booking.
